Citi Field
is a 45,000-seat open-air ballpark for the Mets that was constructed just east
of their old home, Shea Stadium. The Mets invested around $600 million with
and additional $90 million from the city and $75 million from the state
for infrastructure improvements related to the project. The design was
unveiled in April of 2006 and construction began the following summer
with an opening in the 2009 season.
