The Children's District

In the original design of Central Park, the area south of 65th street was designated as the "Children's District," because it was near the southern entrance of the park that was the first area reached by families visiting from the city center in lower Manhattan. Various attractions have been added to the area over the years specifically for the young and young at heart.
