Bronx Zoo
The City of New York alloted 250 acres of Bronx Park in 1898 to the New York
Zoological Society, which opened the Bronx Zoo the following year with 843
animals in 22 exhibits. As of 2010 the Zoo housed around 4,000 animals
representing more than 650 species.
