Temple Theatre

Meridian, MS

Opened: 1923

Seats: 1,800

Originally built as the Hamasa Shrine, it was leased to the Saenger Theater chain from 1927 to 1972. The motion picture palace featured Byzantine motif, marble fountains, and bronze chandeliers and a mighty Robert Morgan pipe organ. I never actually played here, but took a picture of it while strolling around downtown Meridian before catching a train.
