Joy Theatre
1200 Canal Street
New Orleans, LA
Opened: 1047
Seats: 900 (originally 1,250)

This streamline moderne structure was the flagship of the Joy theatre chain, which was owned by Joy Houck and included a collection of theatres in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. After the typical period of decline and multiplexing, the theatre closed in 2003. It was renovated, returned to its former glory, and reopened as a live music venue in 2011.
