Syracuse Landmark Theatre
The Landmark Theatre opened as Loew's State Theatre on February 18, 1928 and was rescued from the wrecking ball in 1977. While the house was in relatively good shape when I was there, the backstage area had received very little attention. What few house lighting instruments were available were controlled by "Old Sparky,", a venerable old multi-scene rack from the '30s. With most of the larger shows going into a newer house across town, the Landmark was a graceful old dowager whose charm outlived her allure.
