In 1924, the Mercantile Place next door to the Pantages Theatre was converted into the Arcade Building (542 South Broadway), and the Pantages was renamed the Arcade in 1928.
Across the street is the Hartfields Building (537 S. Broadway), a 6-story reinforced concrete and brick structure in Art Deco styling that was built in 1931.
