Bickford's Eighth Avenue
Bickford's Restaurants and Cafeterias was a chain of cafeteria-style restaurants started in 1921 in New York by Samuel Longley Bickford. Through the 20th century the chain expanded throughout New England. At its peak in the early 1960s, the chain 48 restaurants in NYC, but changes in the city and its eating habits led to a slow decline with the final two NYC restaurants closing in 1982.
