Astor Place Theatre / Dominion NY Lounge and Theatre

The Astor Place Theatre is a 300-seat proscenium at the North end of the building. The Dominion is a bar / nightclub on the South end. These four houses constitute the remaining portion of a colonnade of nine originally named La Grange Terrace after the country seat of the Marquis de Lafayette. When constructed in 1831 by Seth Geer, this was considered the finest row of of private dwellings in the city. Its residents have included John Jacob Astor and Washington Irving (NY Community Trust)
