Lost Battalion Hall Recreation Center
93-29 Queens Boulevard
Rego Park, Queens, NY 11374
Opened: 1939
This building was built by the Works Progress Administration as a firing range and drill hall for the Queens Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion. It is named in honor of a World War I patrol that got separated from their division in France in 1918, but managed to hold off a larger German force for six days until reinforcements arrived.
The building was acquired by NYC Parks in 1960.
