Thomas Moore
East of The Pond around 60th Street
Thomas Moore (1779 - 1852) was a prolific Irish poet, singer and actor. The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, a citizens group of Irish descent, commissioned this bronze bust of Moore from sculptor Dennis B. Sheahan, and unveiled it in May 28, 1880 on the 101st anniversary of the poet's birth. The same group had unveiled a different statue of Moore the previous year in Prospect Park. (reference)
