Pilgrim
Pilgrim Hill, east of East Drive, just north of the 72nd Cross Drive
This life-size bronze statue by John Quincy Adams Ward (1830 - 1910) was donated by the New England Society and dedicated on June 6, 1885 in honor of their 75th anniversary. The statue was cast locally at the H. Bonnard foundary and mounted on a pedestal designed by Richard Morris Hunt (1828-1895) that features four bas-reliefs depicting aspects of the Pilgrims' landing, including the Mayflower ship and an image of a bible and sword. The statue was restored in 1979 and the power flasks were replaced in 1999. (reference)
