Central Park Precinct

The landmark building for the Central Park Police Precinct was originally built as a stable in 1871 on a design by Jacob Wrey Mould. This group of buildings was organized around a central courtyard and built against an old retaining wall, along a sunken transverse road to maintain open views in the park. At the time I visited in 2007, the precinct was housed in a temporary building while the historic structure was being restored.
