Tom Otterness (b. 1952)
is a well-known sculptor of public art in NYC, distinguished by a cartoonish and
cheerful style often consisting of pudgy blobs and depicting the struggles
of the "little guy" in a wondrous and difficult city.
The Marriage of Money and Real Estate on the northwest riverfront
is especially clever with characters that appear to be being devoured by
symbolic sea creatures depending on the level of the tide.
