The Maynard Ferguson Discography: The 2000s
Even into his 70s, Ferguson maintained a schedule of regular touring and recording. While still able to bark out double-high C's on occasion, he increasingly relinquished playing time to his younger sidemen. His recordings featured both new faces along with longtime associates like Denis DiBlasio, Steve Wiest and Chip McNeill. Ferguson completed his final set of recordings just three weeks before his death in California of an abdominal infection on 23 August 2006 at the age of 78.
