Day 5: Driving to the Dead Sea
Our trip to Masada and the Dead Sea took us back down Highway 1 and back down below sea level. There was a fatal accident along Highway 90, which necessitated us stopping at a roadside tourist spot for awhile - which gave us a chance to get some pictures on a rather pitiful-looking camel.
Along Highway 90 we passed the caves of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947. The drive also included a stop at the Ahava factory outlet for some stunningly expensive beauty products made with Dead Sea minerals.
