Eliot Feld Ballet

American Ballet Company originally named American Ballet Players, made its debut at the 12th Festival of the Worlds in Spoleto, Italy. In October 1969 it had a season at Brooklyn Academy of Music. The director, Eliot Feld, came to dance from the School of American Ballet, Performing Arts High School, and his mentor, Richard Thomas. Because of financial difficulties the company disbanded in 1971. Eliot reassembled a second company under the name The Eliot Feld Ballet in 1974. It was through Eliot's efforts that the Joyce Theatre came to be.
