New Orleans Municipal Auditorium

This auditorium is a multi-purpose arena located in Louis Armstrong Park in the Treme section of New Orleans just north of the French Quarter. It can be divided two separate halls and has meeting rooms and exhibit space. It has served as a music performance venue as well as a casino, the home of two different professional basketball teams, and the site of Mardi Gras krewe balls. Guitarist Scotty Moore's website has some nice photos and anecdotes of performing there with Elvis in 1955 and 1956. Flooding from Hurricane Katrina in 2005 severely damaged the electrical and mechanical systems and when I visited in 2013 it was still awaiting repair.
