Architect: Thomas Lamb
Built for the Mastbaum chain of theatres and named for one of the Mastbaum brothers. Design is called "Mexican baroque" for its unique blend of diverse styles. The Central New York Community Arts Council, Inc. purchased the Stanley in 1974 and has made incremental renovations over the years to restore the theatre to its original condition. Sadly, I've never played here, having two scheduled shows cancelled.
When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight, nor for present use alone; let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for ... and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, "See! this our fathers did for us." (John Ruskin)
