Lake Claiborne Dam
Lake Claiborne in Claiborne Parish (near Homer in Northwest Louisiana) was formed by damming Bayou D'Arbonne in the mid 1960s. A state park on the southern shore of the 5,915-acre lake opened in 1974. The lake was quite low when we visited in December of 2011, although I'm not certain whether that was because of the recent drought or an intentional lowering to facilitate construction on a bridge on LA 146.
You can draw any kind of pictures you like on a clean slate and indulge your every whim in the wilderness in laying out a New Delhi, Canberra and Brasilia, but when you operate in an overbuilt metropolis you have to hack your way with a meat ax. (Robert Moses)
