This 185-foot reinforced concrete slab bridge carries Griffin Road
over the south fork of the Spring River to the southwest of Hardy, AR.
The National Bridge Inventory lists the bridge as being built
in 1965, although the unused metal water wheel on the north edge
of the bridge seems a bit anachronistic for something that recent.
The South Fork of the Spring River starts in Howell County, MO
flowing south through Fulton and Sharp counties in Arkansas and
joining the Spring River proper just to the east of this bridge.
The area had received a significant amount of rain and flooding
in the months before I visited in May of 2008, accounting for the
tree stumps to the east and west of the bridge.
