Lake Shore Limited: Albany / Rensselaer, NY

Albany-Renssalaer Station was designed by the firm of Stracher Roth Gilmore. This multi-modal station opened in 2002 to replace a smaller facility to the north from the early Amtrak era, which in turn replaced a grander union station from 1899 that still stands in downtown Albany, although the tracks have been replaced by access ramps for I-787.

The Lake Shore Limited eastbound from Chicago splits into two sections at Albany, with one section for Boston and one for NYP. Westbound, the two sections join in Albany into one train that finishes the journey to Chicago.
