Three Columbus Circle
3 Columbus Circle was
a solid brick building built in 1927 on a design by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon
Associates. But when glass curtain-wall madness took over midtown in the
early 2000s, bricks became as out-of-fashion as bell-bottoms. So the owners
covered the old building with glass and, undoubtedly, jacked the rents
up to match. Could repointing really have been that hard?
