2148 Broadway / 208-210 West 76th Street
These adjacent garages with street-level retail were sold in the fall of 2008 for a total of $111.25 million for demolition and replacement with a 24-story mixed-use tower. They were part of the continued conversion of what had been a collection of stables and garages into more blocks of luxury apartments. The only survivor on this block was the landmarked New York Cab Company Stable, a Romanesque building at 318-324 Amsterdam Avenue (on the opposite corner of the block from this development).
The 2148 B'way garage dated to at least 1912 as it already existed when the NY Times mentioned a sale of the property.
