Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum1071 Fifth Avenue (at 89th Street Mining heir Solomon Guggenheim began collecting "non-objective art" in 1929 and created a foundation that opened it's first museum in 1939. This facility designed by Frank Lloyd-Wright opened in 1959 to focus on impressionist, post-impressionist, modern and contemporary art.
